Ray Hernandez

Coach & Rock Baseball Founder

Coach Hernandez began his young adult baseball career as the captain of a 2x High School Sac-Joaquin Section Championship team. His high school career went on to include capturing the All-delta League championship twice, earning the Brett Crandall Award and a Scholar Athlete Award. After 4 fruitful years of high school baseball, he then went on to play two ways, shortstop and pitcher, at CRC. He was a huge part of 2 teams that went on a deep run into the state playoffs. He won All League and All American in his sophomore year. After CRC, he earned a scholarship to Cal State Fullerton, one of the most accomplished baseball programs in the Nation. Both years at Fullerton, his team won the Big West Championship twice. After 2 years at Fullerton, Coach Hernandez was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks. In his first year, in pro ball, he was selected to play on an All Star team. While playing in the Diamondback’s minor league organization Ray suffered from a torn rotator cuff that was past the point of repair. Soon after his career as player, Coach Ray joined the Davis Baseball Academy and also led Elk Grove High School’s 2015 Freshman team to a League Title. He currently Coaches at Cosumnes River College and is earning a Masters in Coaching & Athletics Administration from Concordia University.
